Publishing services
Everything between a finished build and a played game
Four services with written scopes, deliverables and commercial terms. Take all of them under a publishing agreement, or contract exactly one.
PC, console and mobile storefronts
Global Game Distribution
We take a finished build to market across PC, console and mobile storefronts — store pages, builds, age ratings, regional pricing and release logistics handled by us under a written publishing or distribution agreement.
Distribution is the part of publishing that is pure operations, and it is where small teams lose months. We hold the storefront relationships, prepare and submit the builds, write and localise the store pages, run the age-rating submissions, and set regional pricing so a launch is not delayed by a checklist nobody on the development team has seen before.
- Commercials
- Revenue share, defined per title in the agreement. No fee to submit a pitch.
- Typical time
- 8–16 weeks from signature to launch, build depending
What is included
- Storefront setup and store-page copy for PC (Steam, Epic Games Store, GOG, itch.io)
- Console submission preparation for the platform holders you are approved for
- Mobile release management for the App Store and Google Play
- Age-rating submissions: PEGI, ESRB, USK and the IARC questionnaire
- Regional pricing, currency and launch-window planning
- Build pipelines, depot management, patch and hotfix releases after launch
What you receive
- A signed distribution or publishing agreement stating territories, terms and revenue split
- Store pages live in the agreed languages before the announcement date
- A release checklist with named owners and dates on both sides
- Sales and wishlist reporting from the storefront dashboards, passed through unedited
Milestone-financed development
Studio Funding & Co-Production
Development financing from our own capital, paid against agreed milestones, recouped from the title’s revenue. A publishing agreement — not a loan, not an investment product, and never a public offering.
We fund a limited number of titles per year from the company’s own balance sheet. Money is released against milestones both sides signed off in advance, and it is recouped from the published title’s net revenue before the profit split begins. The studio keeps its intellectual property; we license the right to publish it for the agreed term and territories. Everything is written down before the first payment moves.
- Commercials
- Funding comes from Bocary Studios’ own capital under a publishing agreement. We are not a bank, lender, broker or investment firm; we do not accept deposits, do not offer securities, and do not raise money from the public.
- Typical time
- Term sheet within 4 weeks of a green-lit pitch
What is included
- Development grants and milestone financing for titles we agree to publish
- Co-production on projects where we take part of the production work as well as the cost
- Vertical-slice and prototype funding for teams that are not yet production-ready
- Budget review with a producer, not a spreadsheet template
- Recoupment schedule and profit split written into the agreement before signature
- IP stays with the developer; we license publishing rights for a defined term
What you receive
- A written term sheet before any commitment, including recoupment and reversion terms
- A milestone plan with acceptance criteria agreed by both parties
- Quarterly recoupment statements once the title is live
This is a commercial publishing arrangement between two businesses. It is not a financial product, not investment advice, and nothing on this site is an offer to buy or sell securities.
Campaign execution from announce to launch
Marketing, PR & Community
Announce, beat plan, press and creator outreach, storefront festivals, paid campaigns and day-to-day community management — run by us, reported with the platform numbers attached.
A marketing plan for a game is a calendar of moments, each with an asset, an audience and a measurable outcome. We build that calendar backwards from the release date, produce or commission the assets, and run the outreach. Reporting shows the platform’s own figures next to what we spent, because a campaign report a developer cannot verify is worth nothing.
- Commercials
- Included in a full publishing agreement, or contracted separately as a marketing-only engagement.
- Typical time
- Campaign runs from 12 weeks before announce through 8 weeks post-launch
What is included
- Positioning, announcement plan and a dated beat calendar through launch
- Trailer and capsule-art direction, and key-art production with our partners
- Press and content-creator outreach, review-key distribution and embargo handling
- Storefront festival, sale and event submissions
- Paid user acquisition on the channels that fit the title, with spend reported openly
- Discord and social community management, moderation policy and escalation rules
What you receive
- A beat calendar with owners and dates, shared with the studio from day one
- Asset pack: trailers, capsules, screenshots, press kit and a factual fact sheet
- Monthly campaign report with storefront and ad-platform figures included as exported
Certification-ready builds
QA, Localization & Console Porting
Structured QA passes, platform certification preparation, localization into the launch languages and console porting support — the work that decides whether a submission passes first time.
Certification failures are almost always the same small list of items: input handling, suspend and resume, storage messaging, achievement plumbing, and terminology that does not match the platform holder’s style guide. We run the passes against those requirements before submission, manage the localization pipeline including in-context review, and coordinate porting with specialist partners where the studio does not want to take it in-house.
- Commercials
- Included in a full publishing agreement, or quoted per pass as a standalone service.
- Typical time
- 4–10 weeks depending on scope and language count
What is included
- Functional, compatibility and regression QA against a written test plan
- Platform certification pre-checks and technical requirement checklists
- Localization: string extraction, translation management, in-context linguistic QA
- Culturalization review for the release territories
- Console porting coordination with specialist partners
- Accessibility review: remapping, subtitle sizing, colour-blind safe UI
What you receive
- A written test plan and per-pass defect reports in the studio’s own tracker
- A certification readiness report before each submission
- Localized string sets with a glossary the studio keeps
Partnership models
How the services are packaged
The model decides what we take and what you keep. All four are real options — we will tell you when a smaller one fits your project better.
| Model | Best for | We take | You keep |
|---|---|---|---|
| Full publishingFunding, marketing, QA, distribution and live operations. The widest scope and the longest commitment. | Teams that want to build the game and nothing else. | Publishing rights for a defined term and territory, revenue share after recoupment. | The intellectual property, the source code, and the right to reversion at the end of the term. |
| Distribution onlyThe game is finished and funded. We handle storefronts, ratings, release logistics and patching. | Self-funded studios that want reach without giving up marketing control. | A distribution share on the storefronts we operate for you. | Everything else, including your existing store pages if you already have them. |
| Co-developmentWe put production people on the project alongside our capital — usually to finish a strong prototype. | Small teams with a proven vertical slice and gaps in a discipline. | A co-production stake defined per project, plus publishing rights. | Creative direction. The credit line names both studios. |
| Marketing onlyCampaign strategy and execution for a title you are publishing yourself. | Studios with a publisher-free release plan and no marketing capacity. | A fixed fee, or a fee plus performance component agreed in advance. | All revenue from the title. We never take a cut of sales on this model. |
From pitch to launch
The route your game takes through Bocary Studios
Six stages, each with the time it takes and what comes out of it. Nothing here is a black box — you always know which stage your submission is in.
- 01Same day
Pitch received
Your submission arrives through the pitch portal with a reference number. Nothing is forwarded outside Bocary Studios, and we do not ask for exclusivity to read a deck.
- 02Within 10 working days
First read
A producer plays the build or watches the footage and writes an answer: a yes, a no with the reason, or a specific question. Every submission is answered.
- 032–4 weeks
Deep evaluation
For titles we want to take further: market comparables, scope and budget review, a technical read of the build, and a call with the team behind it.
- 04Within 4 weeks of green light
Term sheet
A written term sheet — funding, milestones, recoupment, territories, term length, reversion. You take it to your own lawyer before anyone signs anything.
- 05Project length
Production & milestones
Financing is released against milestones with acceptance criteria you agreed to. Marketing and QA plans start running in parallel, not at the end.
- 06Launch onward
Launch & live operations
Submission, certification, store pages, campaign execution, then patches, sales events and reporting with the storefront figures attached.
Not sure which model fits?
Send the pitch anyway and say so. We answer with the model we think fits and the reason — write to publishing@bocarystudios.net if you would rather talk first.
